REPORTING TO THE OFFICE
Thank you to all the parents who are diligent about reporting to the office and signing in when they are visiting our school. The safety of “our kids” is worth the inconvenience of this procedure.
AGENDAS
Agendas will be coming home this week with all students in grades 1-8. We are asking each student to contribute $5.00 to help defray the cost. Please ask to see your child’s agenda on a nightly basis and take a few minutes to initial it so that we will know that you have seen it. Classroom teachers will build some time into each day to review agendas. This tool is one of our primary methods for communicating with you and will include important dates, upcoming appointments, school deadlines and nightly homework. For senior students the agenda can be an excellent tool for achieving long term deadlines and goals. Learning to be organized and meeting deadlines are key to success in life and so we need to work together to make the most of these learning/life skill opportunities.
TEACHER CONTACT
I encourage open and timely communication between home and school, however contacting teachers during the school day can be problematic. Please contact the office to arrange a before or after school meeting or a telephone conversation. If I can assist in any way please contact me directly.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK
A Criminal Background check is mandatory for all adults having regular and direct contact with students. If you wish to volunteer in any capacity and have not yet completed this requirement please contact Mme Picard for the necessary paperwork. A Criminal Background check must be renewed every three years; therefore any checks done last year will be valid and on file at the school.
MAGAZINE FUNDRAISING
The School Council is doing a Magazine Subscription Fundraiser, for new playground equipment. Information and order forms were sent home earlier. The deadline for returning these forms is Tuesday, October 9. If you have any questions contact Leslie at 613-476-9747.
JK/SK PARENTS
Now that September is over and routines are beginning to be established, we are seeking your assistance with morning entry procedures. Please drop your son/daughter at the classroom door which will allow everyone to get on with their day. Past experience has shown us that the longer you remain the harder it is for parent and child to separate. We seek your assistance with this issue with the best interests of your children at heart.
HEAD LICE
Now that everyone is back to school and in close quarters, it is important to check your child(ren)’s hair for head lice and nits (eggs) as part of your weekly routine. • If we all take the time to check (and treat) now, it will minimize the number of cases. Thanks for your co-operation.
