God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very
good.
Genesis 1: 31
Welcome to the home of Environmental Education at the
Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.
As countries around the world face complex
environmental and social issues, there is a growing recognition that education
has a key role to play. It is critical that we help students understand how our
individual and collective behaviour affects the environment, and how
environmentally responsible lifestyles can contribute to healthy, sustainable
ecosystems.
Environmental education is a vital tool that helps
young people understand the nature and complexity of environmental challenges
and builds their capacity to take appropriate action.

At ALCDSB, we embrace our responsibilities for the prudent and judicious use
of the resources we have been allocated. In our context, we are committed to
environmental education, responsible and accountable environmental practices and
our call to care for all of God’s creation.
A Child’s Prayer for the Earth
Thank you for the sun,
the sky,
for all the things that like to fly,
the shining rain that turns grass green,
the earth we know -
the world unseen -
for stars and night, and once again
the every-morning sun. Amen.
